Hi, javagirl. Welcome.
Fairly new to this message board myself. But as you can see everyone here is very nice. And they have loads of good advice as Karl said. Even if you need help making last minute dinner reservations.

I'm a FL native and so is my husband. And knowing how hot it was going to be we still went last August.
Typically it's really humid and yucky. But on the plus side the afternoon shower will clean out the parks. And you'll have virtually no lines. Until people realize that the rain wasn't permanent. I'd recommend going in Sept if you can. Warm enough to swim but cool enough not to melt.

We always seem to go to WDW in August. Last year it really did'nt rain at all which is shocking! There are usually late day showers which are a welcome and refreshing "clear-out" of the heat. We are a crazy bunch who LOVES the heat so no complaints here! There is a good weather website that I like to use called Wunderground.com and it gives historical weather info so you can get an idea of heat, rain humidity etc. in the past. The only place we really felt knocked out by the temps was Animal Kingdom. You really have to avoid that park during mid day. Even the animals are smart enough to stay hidden during this time!! But have a great time no matter when you go-it's DISNEY!!!!! ;)
