Hawaii Tsunami Alert

Just turned on the news to hear that Hawaii is under Tsunami alert after Chile 8.8 earthquake. Hawaii coastal areas under evacuation. Sirens going on right now. Wonder where new resort is located on island. Hopefully no damage will occur and everyone will be safe. Scary stuff happening lately thanks to mother nature. Makes you wonder what the heck is happening to our wonderful planet lately.

Just sent an email to a good friend of mine from my old Hawaii days.
Hope everyone, especially hardest hit Hilo area will be ok. Glad they had a good warning system and plenty of time.

As for our Hawaii DVC: it's leeward (western shore) on Oahu so it really shouldn t see anything .

From what I've read it's sounds like there was very little actual impact; hopefully that is indeed the case.

Gave me something extra to think about regarding adding on there though; an itty bitty part of why I'm about to add 36 points @ VWL (hopefully) instead of wait and do so at AKO. There is always trying @ 7 months and/or cash on the hotel side! :thumbsup2:

Can you imagine how much your dues would go up if part of the resort was underwater for twenty minutes. Dangerous, and scary! I was never a fan of Hawaii because of the tsunami threat, and I must admit I have a lot of respect for the ocean.

Found out yesterday my cousin, an ER doc who lives on Oahu, was actually in an evacuation area! Nothing happened, but, uh, NOT cool! He was at work when the wave came through...
