Being HUUGGGEEE sportsfans, and having had A Superbowl themed wedding two years ago, DW and I decided to always spend Superbowl weekend away at a different location to celebrate our anniversary. We figure there's no way we can top our wedding and Superbowl party, so let's just go somewhere on a mini vacation and enjoy the game together.

Last year, we went up to Idyllwild (a mountain town above Palm Springs) and watched the game in a gorgeous little cabin.
It was great, even though the hated Steelers won. (I'm a Niners fan)

This year we've decided to visit Anaheim, and celebrate while enjoying our first stay at the Villas at the Grand Californian.
We've stayed at the GC a few times, but this will be our first stay in the Villas portion. Can't wait!:yahoo:

We now just need to decide where to actually watch the game.
The ESPN Zone would be fun, but probably a bit too much of a zoo. (We actually like to watch the game)
I'm thinking we'll watch the first half at either the Lost Bar at the Disneyland Hotel, or the Hearthstone Lounge in the GC (although the Hearthstone needs a sericous upgrade of their TVs).
This would make for a little more mellow atmosphere, and allow us to see what Peyton and Drew are actually doing.
And then, if the game is close (which I expect), we could go up to our Villa for the second half and a closer look at the action.
Follow it up with a dip in the Mariposa pool and spa, then late dinner at the House of Blues. Life's good!!:D

It should be fun!! I just wanted to pass on that I'll be combining my two passions this weekend, Sports and Disney!
YEEEE HAWWW!!!!! :cheerleader:

PS - If any of you local DVCNewsers are in the area, stop by and say Hi!
I'll be the buzzed, ridiculous looking, middle aged guy in the Joe Montana jersey!:biggulp::drunkard:

One of my better and totally unplanned experiences was watching a good portion of a World Series game on the jumbo TV's outside the ESPN Zone.

We were doing dinner at the Rainforest and there was a very long wait. But because of the game (especially since the Angels were playing) it was a blast watching it with the crowd outside. I suspect the same would be true for the Super Bowl.

I forgot about those outside TVs.
Thanks, that might be fun for a few series.:thumbsup2:

You are probably already out getting the party started but there are also a couple of "bigger Screen" TVs in the UVA bar in the middle of DTD that can get going some times. The Jazz Kitchen bar also has "normal" size TVs but with the Saints playing it may be a fun place.

We got back yesterday. And actually went over to the Jazz Kitchen just after the New Orleans win to see if there were Saints fans getting rowdy.
Of course there was!! :drunkard: Some very drunk, but happy Saints fans!! :shots:
I'm told it was quite an atomosphere during the game!:biggulp:

We ended up watching part of the game at the Hearthstone lounge in the Grand Californian (they set up temporary flat screens around the room for it). And part in our villa. We were lucky to get a view of California Adventure from our studio and I honestly didn't want to leave. It was so cool to look out from your patio and see all the non football fans having fun in the park. They are just so close! It's awesome!!!

I LOVE THE GRAND CALIFORNIAN!!!!!!!!!
