Well, I just found out last night from one of my FB friends. Last week, the Disney Stores stopped selling Disney Dollars. :boohoohoo: I stopped by my local one tonight and yes it is true. According to the CM, you can only get them at Disney or supposedly through calling where you buy tickets (?).
Apparently they are trying to push the gift cards instead.
This saddens me because they were great gifts to give my niece and nephew when they had a trip coming up.

I guess that makes it much easier for me not to put them in a gift basket for my friend, then. I already have more than enough stuff, so I was beginning to think of not including them. This seals the deal.

That stinks, I'll just have to give my kids cash in their halloween cards.
They loved those Disney dollars, they were fun for them to spend their own "money" :(

I think it's stupid to do away with the dollars.
Can you imagine how many millions of funny money dollars are sitting in scrap books, photo albums, picture frames, etc.
while I like gift cards, I doubt little susie wants to save an old one for a souvenEar.

I agree. I think that they will find that they sell a lot less of the gift cards then they did Disney Dollars. I would think that most kids will think that gift cards will be boring. Plus it will be hard for them to keep track of how much they have spent.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
I wonder what they cost to manufacture. I know it's just paper, but this isn't exactly 8 1/2 x 11" loose leaf. Seems like there was a big to-do a couple years ago about counterfeit bills being passed around the parks. Wonder if that's still a problem.
Still, sad to see them go. Gift cards are a lot easier to carry around, but Disney Dollars definitely had their uses. :(

Apparently this is true - I went over to the CM board on the DIS & there is a thread there about it (a lot of TDS cast are on there). I think there are pros & cons to this; we'll see what happens....
