I've seen the new 2010 dining plans rates are out but I haven't been able to nail down the exact prices since being DVC members we pay for the dining plan seperately.
Anybody have the real scoop? I saw some prices on Mousesavers that are tied to dates but it was for the basic dining plan.
Starting in 2010, the additional cost (on top of a regular Magic Your Way package) varies depending on the time of year:
1/01/10 - 2/11/10, 4/11/10 - 6/03/10, 8/15/10 -12/16/10 is $41.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $11.99 per night for children (ages 3-9).
2/12/10 - 4/10/10, 6/04/10 - 8/14/10, 12/17/10 - 12/31/10 is $46.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $12.99 per night for children (ages 3

Over the past couple of years, that is what DVC members pay, too. There is no discount for the DDP. So, this year, it is $39.99 per person per night, and you'll have to buy for everyone for every night of your stay at the resort.

I knew that DVC members have never gotten a discount on the Dining Plan as we don't pay Rack Rates for our rooms so that excludes us from any specials.
I was just curious at to the Basic and Deluxe rates so I know how much to budget for our upcoming trips in 2010. My son turns 10 in June so we will most likely downsize to the Basic Dining plan after his birthday.

I'm looking at the list of Quick-Service restaurants.
In 2010, they're taking the following ones off the list:
Downtown Disney:
Cookes of Dublin, Earl of Sandwich, Wolfgang Puck's Express. ONLY FoodQuest is left!
At Epcot, you can forget about Boulangerie Patisserie, Cantina del San Angel, Lotus Blossom Cafe, Tangierini Cafe, Yakitori House (Yakitori was a FAVORITE of mine!)
Lose the Yak & Yeti Cafe at the AK.
That's just what I gleaned from looking at from these two links:

WOW! My wife is going to be VERY upset!!! We use almost all of our quick services at Wolfgang's Express & Earl of Sandwich. After downsizing what the plan gets you, raising the prices & taking away restaurants I'm starting to believe that we may see the Dining Plan's demise and I wouldn't be surprised if Disney comes up with something "new" to take its place.

I just don't see how the Dining Plan saves you money any more. I think it's time for the Dining Plan to go.

Sure it does. If you order the $12.99 Ceasar Salad, the $29.99 Chicken breast and the $5.99 chocolate cake. Oh....and let's not forget the $2.49 diet coke.

My thoughts exactly. Raise the prices to the roof to brainwash people into thinking they are getting a good deal. The Dining Plan is a freaking joke.

So do plenty of us. I'd do cartwheels if the Dining Plan died!!
Won't happen though.
Too many people will keep using it.
Too much profit for Disney.

Its disappointing to hear that those restaurants are taken off. I love those places!!!! I didn't use the dining plan on my last trip because of the changes (tip, appetizers, etc.). I definitly won't consider it next trip.

I don't know what's right or wrong about the DDP, but I do feel that for my experience it serves me well. I have used the plan before the changes and after the changes last year and I still feel that it is worth it for our family. It really depends on an individual's idea of vacation. I don't want to think about money once I am in WDW. I know it's paid for and it's DONE. First of all, my family just loves to sit down to a real dinner at the end of the day. A cocktail or glass of wine, a good meal and we don't even feel like we are in the "park." I have also itemized each meal and compared the value. We are still saving $$. Some of us have an appetizer, some don't. But essentially, we are paying less than if we did a la carte-even without the tips etc. At 'Ohana dinner alone would have been $30 alone. So for $8 more we had lunch and a snack! Works for me. Maybe if the prices get much higher I might reconsider. :confused24: But for now I will continue to utilize the DDP.

I totally agree with you. The DDP works for some and not for others. I used it before the changes and liked it. But now, my son is older and we tour differently, so for now it doesn't work for me. But at least its there if anything ever changes form me.

I'm glad it serves you well.
Dollar for dollar, it is still a bargain. I can absolutely find menu items for a TS,CS and Snack that will excede the $39.99 the plan costs. However...
I become a slave to The Plan. To have any chance at all of getting into Le Cellier, I'd better set my alarm clock and start hitting WDWDINE on my speed dialer the very instance I'm eligible to book the date. Esentially, to get the "value" from The Plan, I need to plan my entire trip around a TS meal.
But the biggest problem with The Plan is what it has done to poor schmucks like me that aren't on it. Menu prices have been so inflated to increase the perceived value of The Plan that it's similar to paying rack rate for a hotel room.
Disney put into place a master plan a few years ago designed to keep people on property for their entire stay. They offer free, roundtrip airport shuttle service, taking care of your luggage with ME. People won't split their vacation with on/off property stays when it would mean paying for a shuttle bus. With MYW ticket pricing, who wouldn't spend a couple more dollars for day 5,6,7 & 8. The logic is that I'm not going to buy US/IOA/SW tickets if I've already paid for WDW parks. Then a well priced - at least it was a few years ago - meal plan that was an all-or-nothing. Again, who is going to buy a meal off property when they've already paid for one.
Disney is quite the jailkeeper.

Don't count out those restaurants yet. ;)
All of the locations that you listed are not Disney owned. Disney has to negotiate with the owner in order to include them in the DDP. (Basically the restaurant has to agree to accept Disney's pre-determined stipend for each DDP guest regardless of the cost of the meal.)
Until those agreements are reached, the restaurant cannot be included in the DDP literature. But Disney isn't going to hold up the literature and pricing any longer because they need to start marketing 2010 vacation packages to travel agents.
For whatever reason, these negotiations always drag on toward the end of the year. This has happened every other year with the DDP so don't give up hope yet. As the next several month pass, that DDP brochure will be quietly updated to include most, if not all, of the locations that have been on in years past.
There COULD be hold outs (never say never), but you really can't blame Disney. Disney can't force them to participate. But the restaurant faces a loss of all DDP business if they choose not to participate. As is the case with many Disney-owned locations, I think you're more likely to see these vendors cut costs (smaller portions, cheaper ingredients) before they will opt out of the DDP entirely.

I agree there are pros and cons to the dining plan. I definitely liked it MUCH better when the Tip WAS included as that was our very first Disney trip and it made it so easy as I paid for it up front without worrying how much it was to eat with a character it was already paid for.
I agree totally with the above. If you check the Disney Website and periodically donwload their brochure you will see on the bottom in small print the date is was last updated. They always are low on EPCOT restraunts to begin with which is primiarily where we eat a lot of our meals so I keep checking to make sure I have the most updated list.
The DPP is not for everyone but since we are park hopper's I don't feel tied down to certain locations. We might have a breakfast at one Park or resort and then take a break in the afternoon and then have a nice sit down dinner in the evening at another Park or resort. I'm a planner to a certain extent so I like having all my meals laid out so I don't have to worry about NOT getting a table service meal. Now on the other hand if we decide to go short notice and I can't get any of our normal dining locations we don't do the dining plan and just wing it!
The bad part is when it is a deal...(when it first came out) then Disney changes it to be not such a good deal but still worth it for me right now.:confused24:

We have never gotten the DDP and probably never will. I'm a confessed control freak, and I want to eat what I want - appetizer instead of dessert, or appetizer AND dessert, adult beverage at most dinners, maybe an adult beverage at lunch too (heck I've even had adult beverages at breakfast) etc. Sure I can pay OOP for these add ons, but that means I'm not really prepaying for my meals; I still have to deal with money; and there is the tip. We have made out really well with the TiW card our last few trips and will renew in January.

We used the dining plan on our last trip in August and have to say that we felt like it was not worth it. There was too much food and frankly, staying in a room with a kitchen, we could make the kids breakfast and lunch/dinner healthier and cheaper in the room. In addition our kids (ages 7-1) do not care if we eat in the room or in the parks.
We will not do the dining plan again.

It appears that the rates for the 2010 Dining Plans are the same are they were for 2009. However, everyone needs to take a look and not be surprised that a number of restaurants that were included in the dining plans are now not included. In comparing the Deluxe Dining Plans for 2009 and 2010, we noticed that the Yak & Yeti restaurant in the Animal Kingdom is not part of the 2010 dining plan. And in EPCOT the following table service restaurants which were part of the 2009 Deluxe Dining Plan are not included for 2010:
Chefs De France, Nine Dragons, Marrakesh, San Angel Inn, Teppan Edo (Teppanyaki Grill), Tokyo Dining, & Tutto Italia.

Apparently you didn't read Tim's previous post. They will most likely be added later as they are not "Disney" owned places. They print the participating resturant list before the negotiations finalize and then add them later. They have been added every year the DDP has been around and no reason to see why that would change. It could happen but isnt likely.

I'm the one that had the list uptopic. I'm hoping the 'prediction' of those restaurants being late-adders comes true. Although it would appear that I'm not going to WDW again until 2011, I'd hate to see this program die a slowly withering death. It's bad enough they hiked the price and nixed the appetizer/tip being included.

Back when it was all brand new, matysgranma talked me into staying at the Pop and trying it (before DVC had it at all). She got some awesome rate for room and food and we applied a one day ticket to our pass renewals....can't remember how little it cost, but it was GREAT, although we had wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much food.
Then I got the plan one short trip when my sister was coming in a couple days after me and I didn't include her on the room (or on the plan.;))and everyone was great at letting us share....and I think it still included both apps and tips. And we still had too much food!
After the 'big' change however, it just didn't fit my style: I don't want desserts and I'm not big on cs meals. I didn't think it was any kind of deal for me and I haven't thought about it since (except for all the great meals I had when it was first brought out.)
It may be that I'm paying higher rates now for food because of the 'higher prices' on the menu to make the plan look good. And I could see how that would make non-plan users unhappy. I guess if everybody suddenly starts eating offsite, Disney will revamp.
This trip we are doing POTS, so I could really do with not eating out the rest of the week. But we're doing Kona's, cape may, GF tea, the kiosks, 2 food demos (the once they were free but now they include a glass of wine ones) and lunch at les chef. That won't break the bank and I'm happy with the choices!

Bumping an old thread. Were most of the restaurants (i.e. Wolf Gang's Express & Earl of Sandwich) able to negotiate to be Quick Service & Table Service DDP options for 2010? We leave on Saturday and it just hit me that we were talking about a lot of restaurants that were not on the DDP list for 2010 back in October. Does anyone have the final 2010 list of DDP restaurants?
