I assumed that because my trip to DL is in November that Halloween stuff would be done with. But I just read that the Haunted Mansion Holiday makeover goes until December! :cheerleader:

Anyone been there and experienced it? Is there anything special I should be sure not to miss? :scratchchin: :pumpkin:

we are planning on going up there for Oct and we have some freinds that live over there that were telling us that it lasts until about 1 - 1 1/2 weeks into Nov but that all depends on how DL is feeling that year. lol!

Everywhere I read says it goes til December, but I guess I should prepare myself for the possibility of being disappointed. Thanks for letting me know.

I know that they told us that the Nightmare before christmas stuff stays there for Dec but they take out all the Halloween stuff, like the pumpkins and stuff and make it more like the movie itself.

Ohhh that's great news--it's the Night Before Christmas stuff that I was psyched to see. Thanks again! :cheerleader:

Mid. Nov. 2008 it was in "Holiday" mode and had a bunch of pumpkins. Really cool and no lines; I did it 4 times during my 2.5 days (one night was a "convention" rate ticket I used from 7:30PM to midnight) in the parks that trip.

Super duper, thanks Disney Geek. :rocker:

The whole theme is changed to Nightmare Before Christmas, from Halloween until January. My kids love it . They play the soundtrack from the movie, it is a complete transformation.

When I went in January the HM was closed because they were un-decorating the attraction.
Same for Small World, it is decorated beautifully for Christmas, but was closed for un-decorating when we were there.

There's a serious rumor that the HMH may not happen this year because of the 40th Anniversary event of the HM. It wouldn't do to close the mansion right after the 40th event.

Don't get me wrong--I love the HMH and we've gone several times just to see it.

DH and I must be in the minority. We much prefer the normal HM and do not like HM Holiday. I think the exterior decorations on the mansion for it are gorgeous, but I would rather they leave the attraction itself alone... :tomato:

Madoka I see your point, sometimes it irritates me too when Disney messes with something classic. I just love HM, and the idea of seeing any different sort of incarnation appeals to me. The one in Disneyland Paris is particularly awesome IMHO.

Rita I hope the rumors are wrong, but thanks for letting me know, I'll be more prepared for a disappointment if the rumors pan out.

I think that they will still do the makeover despite the anniversary. HMH is one of the headliner Christmas attractions at Disneyland, and is part of the reason that the crowds in November and December are the heaviest all year. I doubt that they will do anything in this economy to risk lower attendance during one of their most profitable periods.

Lets hope I am right.

I wrote to Jeff, owner of the Doombuggies message board about this. He thinks they'll close it down after the 40th Anniversary event to do the HMH. But he's going to do some inquiries and get back to me when he gets something more definite.
