View Full Version : Which AKV will be harder to book-Kidani or Jambo?

I know that's sort of a crystal ball type of question, asking people to predict, but I was wondering-for the same views (standard and savannah) do you think one place will be significantly harder to book than the other, Kidani vs. Jambo? Actually, I'm kind of hoping Kidani is much more popular, because I'd prefer Jambo. I love Mara, and also I prefer knowing I'm on such a high floor. So which, if either, do you think will be more popular?
Also, do you think that the value studios will be as hard to come by as the standard Boardwalk view studios?

I tried to book a value studio at 9 1/2 months out for F&W and they were all booked. So, though I've never tried to book a standard view BWV studio, it does seem because they are limited in number and only in Jambo that they will go faster than the other categories.
I really don't know about Kidani vs. Jambo, but I would think it would be more difficult to get into Jambo (if trying to make a last-minute ressie) because there are so many more rooms at Kidani. When I made my ressie for AKV (the above one where the values were all booked), there were still both standard view and savannah view studios available at both Kidani and Jambo.

When are you going? We had no problem last year booking Jambo for May @ 7 months out. Also this year we had no problem with Kidani.

I'm going during the F&W festival, and after hearing Matterhorn Miss, it doesn't appear that a value studio will be very likely at all (Darn, value studios are such a good deal). However, I'm hoping I can get a standard or savannah studio. But another good point that was brought up is the relative size of the two places. Oh, well-all I can do is try at 7 months, then waitlist if I have to.

although I am going during a different time I booked Kidani Village for Dec 6-13 at 11months and a few days. both kidani and jambo have value rooms but they weren't available in kidani so I got a standard room since we wanted to stay in Kidani. we are waitlisted for concierge level so I hope it becomes available!

Value rooms are only in Jambo--since these are rooms that used to be regular hotel rooms, they are somewhat smaller than the standard villas. Club level is also only at Jambo.

I think that it will be more by room category than by resort on which will be harder to get. I think that the CL and value rooms at Jambo will fill up first.
I think that there are so many savanna view rooms that both resorts will have a lot of availability except at the highest travel times like early December.

Sorry to hear that the cheap, I mean standard, views at BWV are tough to book, too. :oweye: I guess if I ever experience the BWV, I should just plan on getting a preferred view, then.

I had called MS and asked for a value room in Kidani and they told me that they were curently not available at the time. I was so bumbed out to hear that there were no concierge level rooms in the Kidani village.

I just want to clarify in case anyone is still confused. This is what is listed on the dvcmember.com website:
Jambo House:
Dedicated Studios
Studios
One Bedroom Vacation Homes
Two Bedroom Lockoff Vacation Homes (5 of the Two Bedroom Lockoffs will offer Kilimanjaro Club Concierge service)
Grand Villas (one story)
Several Dedicated Studios and Two Bedroom Lockoffs are designated as Value accommodations due to their smaller size
Kidani Village:
Studios
One Bedroom Vacation Homes
Two Bedroom Lockoff Vacation Homes
Dedicated Two Bedroom Vacation Homes
Grand Villas (two story)
There are no Value or Concierge accommodations in Kidani Village
The One and Two Bedroom Vacation Homes in Kidani Village only will have a full bathroom adjacent to the living room
I'm afraid the CM at MS gave you some misinformation--which, as we all know, happens way too frequently :silly:. AKV owners, though, whether their contract states they own at Jambo or Kidani, can book rooms at either at the 11mo mark.

I just called Member Services, and there were no Savanna View one-bedrooms available for Kidani Village on 10/8, 10/11, and 10/12, but there was at least one Savanna View one-bedroom at Jambo House available for the whole week.

At 6 months, we booked a Jambo house studio. There were none availible at Kidani. Well, let me clarify that...I couldn't get all 13 nights at Kidani and I didn't feel like wait listing.

I agree. We are booked for Kidani Oct. 3. Why not check it out while it is new... But my feelings are, if it isn't THAT great we'll go back to Jambo for the amenities there.
