Worth it not worth it? I just simply don't get it. :confused24:

Dd will be going to college down there and we will need a place to stay while we get her moved in. (and large enough to accommodate me, ds, other dd and my Mom and who knows who else will need to go too- )

I may have misunderstood your question, so accept my apology if this response is not helpful to you.. I have the impression you may simply be looking for someone to give you a e-hug and tell you "congrat's on your daughter's acceptance!".

Utilizing your points for an exchange is probably never the best usage for a DVC contract (or any of the other high profile and high cost timeshare ownerships), since often you will find that your equivalent m. fees for your DVC are higher than the m. fees for the exchange property. (I believe the annual assessment for your target resort in St Augustine is just under $650 for the 2BR.)..

With that being said- if you had not planned on using your points at a DVC resort already- getting some value for your points is certainly the best way to go. If you believe you will either use or rent your DVC points later in your use year- you may want to reconsider.

I'd recommend you simply look at this mathematically. Determine how much your DVC points are worth by looking at the lowest priced owner to owner DVC pt rentals. Then compare that with the acquisition cost for a rental week at your target resort. The Augustine rental should cost you between $1,100 to $1,700 at rack rates (a timeshare rental agent could probably save you about $200 to $300 from that amount). Timeshares Only rental agency and Timeshare Help are both respected rental agents. You could also look at an owner to owner rental via MyResortNetwork or Redweek, but I strongly recommend you insist on an independent escrow agent if you make the latter choice.

If you feel the cost difference between your pts possible value and the Augustine rental is negligible, make the exchange. If you determine that your DVC pts are worth a substantially larger amount- and you have the ability to either use or rent them at a later date- then you simply rent your target week and save your points.

By the way- Congrats on your daughter's acceptance.. :hug1:
