Allears.net has posted pics of the new pirate-themed rooms at the Carribean Beach Resort:

These rooms look pretty cool.
I still like my DVC digs better, though.:goodvibes:

My kids will love those rooms. We will have to swing a weekend there before a DVC stay.

It's cool - but the drapes would freak me out in the middle of the night!

The rooms are cute, but I have to say I dislike when the powers that be overdo certain characters. At one point it seemed like Pooh World instead of Disney World. Then it became All Stitch All the Time. The latest "craze" seems to be Pirates. I apologize in advance to you pirate lovers, but I am burnt out on them at this point. :oweye::blech:

The writers at yesterland apparently share your (and many others) feelings. These pics still crack me up:

And speaking of Pirates, I read in a recent interview with Jerry Bruckheimer that he is chomping at the bit to make Pirates 4. One would think Disney would've learned from Air Bud (and the Rocky franchise for that matter) that sometimes you just need to leave good enough (2 sequels, please!) alone. But, it is obvious they haven't, as we now have sequels and prequels to just about every classic (and not so classic) Disney movie. It is really disheartening to think that the creative team at Disney can no longer make an original movie.
Sorry bout the off-topic soap box rant. I'm off now.

lol! my girlfriend said the same thing. I think it is a bad move using points to stay at these resorts though!

Many DVC members take non-point trips, or stay in a Value or Moderate over the weekend, to save points for a villa for Sun-Thurs stays.

DW thought the floor was cool. I like them to, but I'm strictly a queen or kind size bed kind of guy if I have any choice what so ever!

I know that CBR does have some king rooms. I just don't know if they were part of this refurb or not.

you know I had heard of that but never thought of actually moving from one room to another due to my g/f not wanting to change rooms but I will try to talk her into that because we are going in May for a week and we are staying a week using developer points so we might as well use them or loose them I guess you could say but maybe we could go another day. I will have to think about that due to Fri and Sat night being 26pts each.

Hey, I thought we already had "leave a legacy tombstones." Didn't they put them in the main entrance in Epcot?

Yep, that's exactly what the article MM linked a few posts up inferred.

Diz - if I were you, I would do it on the front end of your trip. It is much easier to move to a bigger room than to move to a smaller one. If you pack your things, Disney bell services will even move them for you. Call Bell Services, check out, head to the parks and then later check in to your new hotel and have them deliver your stuff back to you. They will even put cold items in a fridge if you have them. (traveling with kids, so we still have milk almost always and never been a problem)

I think Stich means 'me'.
But I agree...the decs are pretty restrained. I think I would have gone all out on the pirate theme and let the dubloons fall where they may.

Dang, but that gives me a problem. I usually go from sunday to sunday! so I would be forced to move to another hotel at the end. dangit!

is anyone going to stay full weeks in 2010, due to the higher cost during weekdays and lower costs during the weekends?

I haven't studied the points charts much but i suspect we will. We already occasionally bit the bullet and stayed a full week here or there. I think this will encourage us to do it more often. A full week is much nicer overall than 5 nights.
Also - we have done it both ways but I felt happier when we moved from small to big. To me it feels like it exagerates the space downward when you go from a 1 or two bedroom to a traditional hotel room. But - beats going home!!!

Good tip & makes sense. Every so often I toss around moving from one room to another and that is something I will try to remember!

Here's a report on allears.net about the pirate rooms:
http://land.allears.net/blogs/jackspence/2009/02/caribbean_beach_resort_pirate_1.html
I had forgotten that these pirate rooms are more expensive than the regular rooms. Also, looks like the decor isn't quite finalized yet. And, despite the creepiness of the pirate curtain, that also looks to be the one dividing the bathroom area, not over the window (so you could just open that area if you don't want to have a heart attack in the middle of the night).

I just read today that all the Pirate rooms are in Trinidad South, & Finding Nemo rooms are in Martinique.
