Hello, to all. I am a new DVC Member and thank all of you for helping me learn about this prior to joining. I decided to join (AKV) and now have a question.

Today I booked a Value Studio at the Jamba section of AK. Now, I call tell from this website, there are dedicated studios. Since I have booked my room this early, if I ask for a dedicated studio, am I guaranteed one if I asked for one before they are all taken up? Or is this something that is decided when I get there?

I am assuming if I book now, and say I want a dedicated studio now, and there are some available now, then could I assume I will have one (wouldn't that be the point of booking early and asking for a dedicated studio)?

I would appreciate any help.

I don't know if a dedicated studio is a separate booking class. If it is, when you make your ressie (or if you were to call back) and ask specifically for a dedicated studio, and one was available for your dates, you would be guarranteed a dedicated studio. If it is just a room request, you can put that request in, but there is no guarrantee you will get it. If no one knows here on the forum, I would call MS.

Good luck, and welcome!

MM's answer was right on target, but I will add one more thing. Other resorts (ie BWV) have both dedicated and non dedicated studios. It's never been a guarantee at any of the DVC resorts, it's merely a request. Based on that, I have a feeling it will be the same at Jambo.

It's actually a pet peeve of mine that they don't seem to honor requests by "who asked first". I could be wrong, (sure wouldn't be the first time), but it seems to be luck of the draw when it comes to most requests.

I booked a value studio for my late March trip, and when I checked it on DVCmember.com, it was a dedicated value studio. So I'm guessing if you ask for a dedicated value studio you'll get one, but you can check your account on DVCmember.com to be sure.

Seems to me for AKV Jambo House they are booking the dedicated studios first. That way they have more lock-off studios to use when someone needs a two bedroom. Jambo House does not have any dedicated two bedroom villas.

Thanks for the info. I was able to gather some info, hopefully it will help.

I contacted DVC after I posted this and there is in fact dedicated studios at the Jambo house. The DVC rep also informed me there was NOT any dedicated studios at Kidani.

And ghost is correct. After speaking to the DVC rep, I was able to get the dedicated studio and when you check online at your reservation, it says it is a dedicated studio.

Thank you for all your help.

Interesting as when I made my ressies at the VWL for the trip we took this past Aug I booked a 2-br lock off. I had my choice of a dedicated or lock off and I choose lock-off so we have more room in the "studio" side. When I booked, MS gave me the option. Now if I recall correctly these are not seperate cat. correct?

Or am I mixing apples and oranges? :silly:

They are not different points amounts, just different booking categories--like a lockoff 2BR vs dedicated 2BR (which, at BCV at least, also means 2Q in 2nd room vs 1Q and 1 sleeper sofa each as separate booking categories). Some resorts, I guess, only have dedicated, or only have lockoffs.

I just looked online at my upcoming trip to Kidani in a studio and it only lists it as a Studio Standard View Kidani.

Looking at completed trips, my trip to VWL did indicate it was in a dedicated 2BR and at BCV as a 2BR/2 queen beds in 2nd BR.
