We were just in Chattanooga TN over the weekend. They must have opened a brewery there because there were billboards all over \"welcoming\" everyone to the family of Yuengling.
We will have to take a road trip and do a tour! Please oh please tell me they do sampling!
TW1!!! Did you see all the Stitch Avatars I found for the site? Tim has uploaded them. I hope you find one you like!
Wow. I have not seen the smiling horse in ages.

I was doing so well with MIL and ILs in geenreal until girls weekend. Then I gave up caring. Got to figure it out again with FIL having issues. Hard to care about a family who \"Didn\'t even know you were looking ofr a new job\" when teh reason tehy didn\'t know is no one bothered to ask how I was or hw my job was in a 7 month period. You guys know that I coudl nto keep my misery in if anyone asked. heck, I had a hard time lying to the hygienist! :P Starting Monday, though, I have to be on best bhavior. Must remind mysel fit\'s for dh, not ILs.

Thanks guys, it\'s really my attitude that changed, not hers.
Carrie, so hear ya\' on the family. No one even remembers where I work, or what I do. I was thinking of you yesterday, I started getting really blue about the job I applied for but not getting. I remembered how you really had to wait a long time for something new, and you survived all in one piece. I just really have to work on my attitude about it all. :silly1:
So anyone going to see any movies over the next few weeks? I haven\'t seen Enchanted yet, and now I also want to see the new National Treasure movie. We never go to the movies, but it seems like around the holiday we always see something.

Rozzie - Very time I had a delay getting a job, it held me off until I ended up where I was supposed to be. Mind you, I knew that during my search, but it offered me no comfort adn if one mmore person told me that, I would have killed them. Hope it helps that I know this is where I\'m meant to be and that there have been fnny side benefits that confirm it. Hope your search goes quiker than mine!:hug1:

Yessserie!!!!! Candy Cane Martini\'s. I highly advise not guzzling 3 in a row however. :rolleye11:
Actually our 2 favorite holiday drinks are our traditional Rosa Regale on Christmas Eve and then Baileys and Coffee till\' the new year. I love drinking Baileys when it\'s really cold out, and it just isn\'t cold here this year. Oh well. I guess I could be shoveling snow right now, so I\'ll stick with my 70s I suppose.
Back to work for me tomorrow, work Sat and Sun, off on the Eve, then work Christmas Day, so today is the day I really have to get everything done. Scott\'s presents from Amazon and Barnes and Noble STILL have not arrived. I am tracking them and both said yesterday. If they don\'t arrive today I will start freaking. Thanks for letting me whine on and on here about my invasions! We had such a great night with the kids -- we watched Mickey Holiday Cartoon Classics, ate leftovers, tweaked the tree, and generally just laughed and laughed. S did some more walking and we generally had an excellent time.
I think I realize what I miss most about my family when we\'re invaded is we can\'t simply sit around the table and hang. We really do that with the kids. For whatever reason, both sets of parents have this \"gotta get through with the meal so I can get back to the couch\" mentality, so meals end up tense and rushed. Just not our way. And, our tree is right near the table, so we sat during dinner last night and simply admired it while we sang Christmas carols. Who knew that D already knew all the words to Jingle Bell Rock? We also hauled out the bubbly and Mickey champagne flutes, and that\'s probably why I\'m awake now. :woohoo:
Gotta get a decent run in this morning, and then it\'s off to find a nice gift for my sis. I love shopping at the end though, so it\'s not stressful for me. I go out early or late, with a list of whom, and just soak in all the stores are offering. I see something I like, check my list to see if anyone would like it. If yes, it\'s bought. Then on to soaking in more stuff until there\'s no one on my list. :yahoo:

LOL, Ron\'s green chior robe came today. Got to love Ebay.
You would have thought I spent a hundred dollars on the thing instead of under $10.
He has been wearing it around the house.
Our dream is to move to FLA and work at Diseny.
His dream is to sing in the Candlelight Procession in a green robe is now one step closer!!
So we are well into our celebrations. We got together with my family on Saturday.
Ron and I decided we did not like opening our gifts to each other on the 26th (as we did last year) so we opened them yesterday.
We leave in about 90 minutes for his Aunt\'s house. There is not enough Georgia Wine in the world to help me get through this one. It starts at 4PM and we get home around 2AM.

Gail I love the pics of Maggie, she looks so happy. :dog: Our doggie, Chloe, also was enthralled with her gift. The local BJ\'s shopping club had this really nice basket FILLED with toys and treats for only $15. Chloe already chewed up one of the soft toys (she is not gentle with her toys), but the rubber toys are holding up fine. DD17 and I played with her in the yard for quite a while. She loved the edible stuff, I have to hide most of it or she\'ll eat it all in one sitting. And then barf all over the house! I totally related to nono\'s dog eating the 3 foot chewie, Chloe would do the same if we weren\'t paying attention.
Congrats on the new \"official\" running outfit Nono!
LOL about the clueless co-worker Athenna. Did she think the animals at AK were fake, or did she not realize WDW has an Animal Park? It\'s amazing after all these years (and all the advertising Disney does) that lots of folks still think Disney=Magic Kingdom. :oweye:

Glad that everyone had a good day yesterday (well except for the candy cane incident. I\'m thinking I\'m glad I dont\' drink.....)
We went to see DH\'s Mom. We already saw my DF and his girlfriend. (Long story there, suffice it to say here that they are 84 and 83 and I just try to maintain my civility with her so I don\'t injure my relationship with Dad.) Any way we saw them Christmas Eve and had dinner and played cards, and had DHs daughter and her family here on Sunday. We played games with the kids. Oh scratch that, *I* played games with the kids, DH drank beer  and watched TV with DSIL. And we made smoothies, which is now our most asked for treat at the house.
So up to his Mom\'s on Tuesday and were there way longer than I like to be. His DB and DS showed up too and proceeded to talk about moving DM out into an apartment. She is also 83. DSIL proclaims - I want everyone here to agree that we will all chip in to help clean out the house (:silly1: , just imagine) AND fix up the house for sale after she is out of it. Merry Christmas to you too, we live over an hour away, and you live 5 min away. No, I didn\'t say that, but wanted to! Well, she\'s not my Mom, so I don\'t feel the obligation anyway. DH can worry about helping. Other than that, we had a nice visit.
 On the AK animal discussion. She must be thinking of the Jungle Cruise! I overheard a child/parent exchange one time on the way in thru the Oasis. We walked by the two macaws and heard the boy exclaim \"look Dad parrots!\" to which the very astute and observant father said \"no, they aren\'t real\".
Have a nice Boxing Day everyone. I\'m not sure what we are supposed to do on Boxing Day, but I\'m just mentioning it.

Kathy, I just love your green robe idea. That is just so sweet and thoughtful. Our goal is to get down there too, live in the area and work outside for Disney. I am daydream so much about it I have MLS updates emailed to me every morning. I always said our dreams keep us going forward. :)
Edited to add: I am having the hardest time getting used to knowing there is another page on threads. :rotfl2:
LOOOOOOOOOVEd the pics Gail. Our kids got hooked up too. Except they didn\'t have a stocking, as I never unpacked them. We got new babies, a rubber Gorilla, more yogurt organic treats, and the grand finale, Prime Rib leftovers from Christmas Eve. Their eyes are still glazed over. I never give them people food, except on Christmas. :P
LMAO Laura on the Candy Cane Martini\'s. Now you know how I felt at the Whispering Canyon breakfast, post Welcome home meet. :silly1:

The Wii might actually talk me into breaking my \"video game\" ban at my house. We have leapster things, but they are only \"educational\" games so the boys will play them for long periods of time, but not that often which suits me well.
Right now, they are in LOVE with their cowboy boots and their new bikes. We are supposed to get Chuck a bike for his birthday (which was Dec 10th - but we can\'t seem to find time to go shopping with everyone together!) so I can\'t wait for us all to go for some family rides!

DD had a ban until last year when she bought a Wii. Well, she did let them have gameboys too but didn\'t allow them to sit around the house playing them, they were more for the car and waiting in line at WDW! Anyway, she like the Wii because it\'s an active game.
I\'m having Rooibos tea, happy to share with the non-coffee drinkers here. Also savoring some Tostitos with Paul Newman Peach Salsa.

Nancy - that is exactly why I dont have them. We let the boys take their leapsters on car trips but not to restaurants, etc. I want them to learn how to behave in those kinds of places. Sometimes I think my rule is foolish but they do well MOST of the time :P
Oooo - those sound good ladies. I have been good and stayed out of the conferernce room today which is where all the goodies were put that people sent us for the holidays. I think I ate enough yesterday to put a serious hurt on any weight maintenance plans for December.

We have restrictions too for video games. They are absolutely not allowed in restaurants. The portable ones are only allowed for long car trips, plane trips and occasionally DS can bring it to school for indoor recess. And I really don\'t like it but it was suggested to help him with socialization with the other boys.....ummmm ok seems like it should have the opposite effect. But, he has a Nintendo DS which allows him to \"link\" up with other kids on their DS so they can play against each other. Whatever happened to playing with toys or games???
The Wii is great for activity so I don\'t mind him playing it too much for a little while. He\'s also a very \"jumpy\" kid so even with regular games, he can\'t sit still. He\'s constantly in motion, jumping, running in place etc. It\'s actually kind of tiring to watch him :rotfl2:

I haven\'t eaten this much in a long time. Yesterday at work all we do was graze all day long, with everyone\'s significant others bringing up goodies from the various home meals. Of course Mr. Roz got a by, I couldn\'t expect him to drive 90 miles round trip to bring me leftovers.
Coffee sounds good right now. I just wish it was colder. Yesterday it was very cold and rainy, perfect PJ weather. Today, warm and sunny. Rats, I treasure cold and rainy days when I am off. Warm weather makes me feel like I need to be outside of my hermit shack doing stuff.
Think I actually might brave some stores later on, Williams Sonoma might have a canister or two left of their peppermint cocoa half price if I had any motivation.
I am a little down in the dumps today. I am about to make a very big life changing decision, and a decision that might seriously cramp my DVC play time. What do ya\'ll think about me asking about time off before I accept the job? I am fully prepared for no vacation time till next fall at least, but I really NEED 2 weeks a year. I just never had a 8-5 type of nursing job. It goes by PDO (accural) time, which usually means you take it when you earn it, but I have no idea how a specialized small department works. KWIM?
Ginger
12-26-2007, 02:14 PM
We have a Wii and I\'ll admit that it\'s fun to play. :)
Rozzie, when my DH has accepted a job and we already had vacation planned, he said something like \"I have a family vacation planned for XXXX so I will be off that week.\" You could even offer to take the time with no pay, if they start giving you a fit about it. Is your PDO going to be for x hours worked you get y hours of vacation?

Yeah you get accrual like at Baptist now you get 8 hours PDO for each pay period. The thing is, this new place being a specialized department with only 8-9 GI nurses, I am sure not sure on how staffing works with your required call time, etc.

I am with Ginger. Talk to them about it up front. Be honest and say that if it will effect your job then it is a no brainer that you won\'t go, however, it is already planned and you would like to take it (without pay).
I have done that before and being up front was the ticket. When we go down next month Chuck is taking time off without pay since he has not been at his current job long enough. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
If they flip out about you even talking about it then maybe this job isn\'t exactly what you are thinking it will be.
Good luck!

You\'ll be working at a hospital still in the specialized department or a private office?
In my last job, I was able to tell them I had a trip planned before I started working. They allowed me to take the time off with no pay. But that was eons ago and it was civil service for the county so it was different than private employment. I forgot how our vacation time was accumulated. We were able to use our overtime as extra hours off instead of pay...maybe that\'s an option too?
Rozzie
12-26-2007, 02:49 PM
I can handle canceling vacations for this year, I am already going to have to cancel Stimpy and I\'s trip (or at least my involvement :) ), but I guess I am worried about each year. Maybe I just need to be upfront and say, look I have this timeshare, we are used to taking 2 weeks a year (well actually more but we are fine with cutting it back to 2 weeks) a year for trips. Maybe using different words of course, but just so I know what the reality of vacation time is at this job.
I think it\'s only reasonable to ask how much vacation time is typical in any given year before one starts a job. Mr. Roz is so sick of hearing me moan about it he leaves the room. Good thing I have my nothing friends!

(and I worked in personnel for a few years in college)
Ask away. I really wouldn\'t cancel my trip with Stimpy if you can help that either. It will be a long time til time off if you do.
Adults have things get in the way. Planned vacations, sick family members, kids (which is a HUGE deal that hubby and I try to split), etc. They have to deal with things like that all the time I am sure. A good open door policy is the difference between a job and a company you are proud to work for in my book

Oh Rozzie, you should definitely know about all of the compensation that comes with the job. Especially if an answer one way or another would make you not take the job. And ask how they manage scheduling the vacations also.
Most PDOs you are eligible to take the time off immediately. Or there is a 60 or 90 day wait. I only know this because I was just the Project Manager for a study my company was doing to move to a PDO and we studied a lot of companies, had industry reports with best practices. Just another piece of useless information that my overloads my brain.
Laura - I wish I could walk in that darn thing, I still have my registration, but my foot is not completely well and I haven\'t been able to train. I don\'t think I could keep up a 16min mile pace though. Good luck with your long walk. What\'s your pacing like now?

About 6-7 years ago I was in a management position and one of my people came to me and reported that she had decided to take a job elsewhere. I think her base salary was about 10-15% above what we were paying her.
She was decent, but also one of those people that tended to use whatever leverage was available to manipulate the company. She was already paid quite well for her position and I knew that if we offered a raise to keep her, it would be a regular occurrence. So we let her go.
Come to find out that she never bothered to ask about benefits at her new employer. Our company was quite generous even at that time, paying 90% of the premium for health and dental benefits, 100% on a small term life insurance policy and we had Flex spending available. She was also at a point where she had gained additional vacation time due to her length of service.
By the time she finished paying for the same benefits under her new employer, she was taking home LESS money than we were paying her. Oh, and she lost vacation time, too. :rotfl2:
Now for the rest of the story...
After about 8 months she called me and inquired about coming back. Long story short, I agreed to let her come back at her old salary and benefits (bear in mind that ended up being a raise from what she was taking home at the new job.) The only stipulation I made was that I wouldn\'t give her credit for her years of service--for purposes of vacation calculations, 401k participation, etc., she would be a new hire. She was perfectly fine with that.
After being back for about a year, she approached me one day talking about how valuable she was to the organization (blah, blah, blah) and asked if I would consider reinstating her service time. I told her no.
A few months after that I left the company and was told by an old coworker that she used my departure to her own advantage and got one of the owners to agree to reinstate the time. :silly1:
Of course, within 2 years that wonderful owner sold the business out to a competitor in another state and everybody lost their jobs. Short-lived victory on her part. :rolleye11:

Yikes Tim, talk about Karma! She was lucky that she even got her job back.
I did read over the benefits package before I applied, it\'s all rosy in black and white, but unfortunately in the nursing world, you may be \"due and owed\" vacation, but not able to take it because of staffing issues. I am really lucky to have managers on my current floor that believe in it\'s better to run short than lose nurses because they could never get time off. I have heard some horror stories from other floors though. Guess I am going to just bite the bullet and ask.
You know what is really sad, and I bet some of ya\'ll have met these people, but there are people who just \"don\'t believe\" in taking vacation. I mean it\'s one thing to not being able to afford to go anywhere, but they won\'t even take the time off just to relax around the house. Or I know, my father for instance, did not take a vacation in 10 years. Said his career was too important, and the one time he did try to \"escape\" one week, he was called and told to come back, that there were plenty of other people who wanted his job that didn\'t need time off. At that time, he was VP of pharmacy of a national grocery store, had really thought he had \"arrived\". You know where this story is going, 2 heart attacks later, he quit, takes a lot of time off now, and travels. I guess I have seen too many people die early deaths, never taking time for themselves. I really think there are people in this world that think they are going to be able to take their money and their job title with them when they go.
Okay, I\'m wide awake with way too much late night coffee. Sorry to ramble.
Anybody reading anything good? I just started Rhett Butler\'s People, and really enjoying it so far.
Rozzie,
I agree with you. It is very important to find out the attitude behind the black and white. Some company cultures very much frown on you taking what is part of your package. For instance, Paternity Leave. It looks great on paper, but Mr Nono is quite fortunate that every man, from the top down in his org. actually uses the benefit. So there\'s no \"What\'s wrong with him\" behind-the-back talk if a man does indeed take his 4 weeks\' paternity leave. (Like it is a freakin\' pleasure cruise anyway. Really. This is one bene that every company should encourage. The men are :worship: :worship: to the company upon return).

That would be most of my family. I can never remember when my Father has taken all the vacation that he gets each year. He will take a few days here and there, but never a whole week. And if you suggest that you take some days to relax around the house, watch out. You might as well suggest he start a war or something.

Athenna------You know the best thing about the book so far (don\'t worry NO SPOILERS) is that it is a companion (I really wouldn\'t say a sequel) to the book, not the movie. Don\'t get me wrong, GWTW the movie is my favorite movie, but the book blows the movie away IMHO. Scarlett has so much more depth to her character in the book, then again, isn\'t that how all books vs. movies are? Anyhoo, I think you are really going to enjoy it Athenna, when I get finished with mine, I\'m shipping it up to the great white north for Stimpy to read. Sure hope she can fit a page or two in between pack meetings.
nono, that is great about Mr Nono and paternity leave. Mr. Roz\'s company would probably fire him just asking about something like that. It is really sad to think how some companies want to offer benefits, but never want you to utilize them. (Kinda like insurance companies, wink wink)

Tim,
It is always interesting to hear of stories like yours. Chuck had an issue recently where he was going to be laid off (had 45 days before it would happen). While I was in Nashville gathering up the stuff for my new job, he went ahead and took another job. It has worked out fine, but he does now admit that he panicked and that it really would have been a good time for him to get OUT of the industry he is in (he sells to the guys that work on your heating and air). There is NO stability in it and very little in the way of places to go (promotion wise). Sometimes we make very bad decisions without even seeing it coming because the almighty dollar blinds you.
Kathleena - I am ok with the 16 min pace in my training, but I will let you know how I hold up with it during my 10 miler this coming Sunday morning. I am VERY concerned that I wont make it the entire time at that pace. Carrie has been sending me incredible encouragement (even via the mail! She is so sweet!). I have family coming down to see me walk, so with all of that going for me - I think I might make it on determination alone!!! Walking on Sunday will be interesting though. :P (Dad is doing GREAT but has a problem with his new heart. If the medicine doesn\'t work, there isn\'t anything they can do and his body will start shutting off his heart in the next year. So - this is extra special to have him there as I am making sure to spend as much time with him as possible. We won\'t know if the meds are working for a few more months but for now, we are living each day to the fullest where we can!)
I am reading S is for Silence by Sue Grafton right now. Needed something light for during the holidays. I have LOTS of gift cards that are burning a hole in my pocket right now so I cant wait to go book shopping!

When my folks offered to watch them this past Saturday night so DW and I could go to the movies, we both thought \'great, we\'ll go out, and sneak back in our bedroom door, take a nap, then get up a few hours later, sneak back out and come in the front door!
Took the kids to a ski slope for tubing yesterday had lots of fun, though DS smashed his faced in the ice and looks a bit scary.
In the office today for a few hours, then back out till the 2nd.

No advice, but I know you would have a blast during that time. We go often during low seasons, but we never have trouble during peak times either as we are good at the park thing. I think most of us have learned how to handle high crowds and parks with long lines.

Granted, I don\'t see myself ever taking that much time off a year, but I can roll over unused hours and can use them for LOA or anything of that sort. I also told them I had a \"family\" vacation planned in Nov, and the recruiter said it was wise of me to put all of that on the front end. So I am canceling our May trip (which I was looking forward to with nono :hug1: ) as I think it really would be too soon after starting, I would just be out of my orientation probational period. But look out, It looks like F&W/Jersey Week here I Come! :goodvibes:
Thanks for all the words of wisdom, \"fatherly\" advice, and unwavering support. Now I will kindly step away from the mic and let the Nothing thread be the nothing thread again, not the Rozziejobconflicted report. :rotfl2:
TW1--I bet that would be a awesome trip. I strongly advise TGM, I know that is what Erin is doing this week and seems like she is having a great trip. I bet that week the crowds will slowly be declining each day. Good luck on finding the time off! :)

I will go from 90 miles round trip a day, down to 30 miles round trip. Time? From a 1 hour commute to a 25 minute commute. And that is me from my car, to the door of the lab hopefully. I still have to be there at 630 am, so I will probably leave at 545 just to be safe on time. I am kinda OCD about being on time, and would alway rather be 10-15 minutes early than 5 mintues late KWIM. So leaving house around the same time, but instead of getting home at 9pm, I get home at 4pm.
Thanks Gail for the wellwishes! :hug1: The Jersey week is not in stone from the manager herself, but my recruiter is putting it down in my offer. So it\'s still subject to availability, so worse comes to worse, I can adjust my dates a few days here and there. I am just happy to know I can go in the fall.

Fun reading about all the GWTW fans. I love the film, have seen it countless times in the theatre. Seeing it on a small screen just isn\'t the same. I do agree with you all who say the book is better, but the movie is a cinematic masterpiece as well. The lighting and the framing of the shots is so well done. I can criticize some of the casting, but Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable were amazing IMHO.
I didn\'t care for the written sequel to GWTW, but I\'ll give the book you mentioned a look Roz, always fun to read more about those characters.

Oh I am amazed by the book I am reading, didn\'t really know if I would like it or not, as I thought the trashy sequel Scarlett should have been the subject of book burnings. :blech: If you are looking for back stories about the characters, this book is great. Great questions I have always wondered about, such as..Why was Rhett at the Twelve Oaks BBQ in the first place (I have always wondered why since he was such a outcast)...Rhett\'s childhood and why he was disowned by his family...Belle Whatling and her whole back story, etc etc. The author, who I actually liked even before this book, isn\'t a beautiful as writer as Mitchell, but he is a addicting storyteller.
I totally agree with you Mararoo about the film. To me it is everything a movie should be, something so encompassing and powerful, you are not the same after watching it. It becomes part of you. The cinematography is something that I don\'t think will every be recreated again. JMHO, though! :P

Ahhh....GWTW fans  I have loved this film since my parents took me when I was about 11 to see it at a cool little theatre on the big screen. Fell instantly in love with Clark Gable and thought that Vivien Leigh was the most beautiful woman ever. I watched a show about all the actresses trying out for the hottest role in Hollywood at the time. Can you imagine Bette Davis in Scarletts role? :scared:

You\'ve got me psyched now Rozaroo, I am going to the library today to get the book you\'re raving about. If you hated Scarlett as much as I did, but you like this book, that speaks volumes. Haha I made a pun unintentionally! :P ITA that you are not the same person after seeing the movie. It is a true theatrical \"experience\" in every sense of the word. I started to make a list of my favorite scenes, but it quickly became too long so I gave up. But I bet you and I HATE one scene in particular (I cannot watch it and avert my eyes every time)--can you guess which one I mean? Hint: It has to do with a horse.
Woohooo Jigger--now I know you love GWTW we have another thing to gab about! It was my Mom\'s favorite movie, and Clark was her favorite screen idol. I can certainly see why, that man was so handsome and charming.

Nope, all 20 times viewings weren\'t in the theatre, I would estimate that at 8 or 9. The rest were on the boob tube.

I adored Clark Gable....(well his looks kinda reminded me of my Dad :) ) I remember having my Mom wake me up one night as The Misfits was being showed on TV. Oh, I cried when He said \" Honey, we all got to go sometime, reason or no reason. Dyin\'s as natural as livin\'. I have only seen GWTW on the big screen once!! Ah, that\'t the Armpit for you. They bulldozed most of the old movie houses some time ago. There is a old one in Mobile that shows it once in a blue moon. I watch it every year normal screen, and try to read the book every other year. (So I guess I\'ve read the book a half dozen times, and seen it maybe 25??) The biggest memory I have of the impact of the movie was when I was sitting at my grandmother\'s bedside when she was in hospice, she was out like a light, but GWTW came on the TV in the room, she opened her eyes, and said softly \"I was so hoping to hear that music one more time\", in her best syrupy southern drawl. :goodvibes: She was Melanie in the flesh I swear. I don\'t see how my mom and her were ever related.
Ya\'ll should see our bedroom, LOL! I have Scarlett running away from Tara portrait over our bed. Bonnie on her pony portrait over the chest, and about 10 collector plates above the desk. Add a couple of GWTW music boxes, figurines, and Scarlett the Barbie in the Green curtain flock and there you have a visual of our ode to GWTW.
Okay if that ain\'t nuts, what is??? :silly1: :rotfl2:

My first house was all off-white. My second house was all off-white for a few years, then I decided to colorize. Started with the kitchen. Being a creature of habit, I used the same formula for each room. I have a border at chair rail height. Below the border is solid, darker color. Above the backbround is painted off white or white, and then I sponge two lighter shades over it. All the colors are from the same color strip at the paint store so they all match perfectly.
Kitchen - Welcome to My Garden border with birds, rabbits, garden tools, plants, veggies. The edges are rust, so I chose a color palette with lighter shades of rust - not quite coral, not quite rust.
TV Room - Flower border with rose hues, so everything is rose.
Scrapbook Room - Flower border with green, so - you guessed it......green hues
Bedroom - Purple/Lavendar
Bathroom - Blues
Hall and Living Room - Border is herbs with a tan background, I used tans for colors
Each flower border is a different flower.
Obviously, I have a really small house, but having the flower theme and everything in the same color tones and styles coordinates the whole house.
In the bathroom, I painted tiles with the same flowers as the border and used them to tile above the shower enclosure. I plan to paint around the huge mirror some day........

Good Morning nono- ;)
Why thank you, Jigger!
Paint -- not so much! Wallpaper -- you betcha! Mr Nono and I are good wall-paperers, so that\'s our choice. D\'s room is an aquarium of blue, our room is tropical red with cream accents and hibiscus border. S\'s room is a dark yellow hunt club plaid accented with palm trees and animal wallies (we didn\'t pick the hunt club plaid-- it was here when we arrived, but in excellent condition, so we chose to work with it). Living room is impressionist brick with bits of ivy poking out. Kitchen is painted -- basic gray. BUT, it has a primary color border of clams, mussels, lobsters....
My suggestion is to go with your favorite color, and then go to the paint store and look at all the variations of that color! BTW, if you go with red, be prepared to paint forever. Three different folks I know all ended up using 4 coats to get the color right! Let us know what you choose!!!! I LOVE updating rooms!

Jiggerj, when we built our house 8 years ago we painted the whole house white/off white. But 2 years (?) ago we finished our unfinished bonus room and bathroom. The unfinished room is a bright green and the bathroom is red. The red is equivalent to the \"Mickey\'s Pants\" color that Home Depot sells, but we bought the pain at Lowes. I love it! I want to add color to more rooms. I agree with Nono, when you paint red expect to put a lot of coats. If I painted red again, I would have my primer tinted red. I think that would help. One thing I would recommend when choosing colors is to take the samples home. The light in the store is probably not the same as the light at your house.

We saw Sweeney Todd the other day. I liked it, DH was kind of iffy about it. I think it\'s one of those movies that you either really like it or hate it. Several people walked out and it wasn\'t just because of the blood. I don\'t think people were expecting there to be as much singing as there was. It\'s a true musical where there is hardly any dialog, everything is sung. I usually don\'t like alot of blood in movies, but to me it looked so fake that it didn\'t really bother me. I thought Depp did a great job and DH liked that \"Borat\" was in it :rotfl2:

Nono - I will check into that race around mother\'s day. I am really pushing (but not too hard) right now to hopefully be able to make the time walking the 1/2. Not making myself sore, but getting in as many \"fast\" miles as I can. It is encouraging to see how far I can go without feeling bad the next day :)
Still going to Curves every other day as well.
My boss said that she started running because walking just takes so long. At this point, I can really see that. I am trying to toss in a bit of running at the end of each mile. Hopefully by May, it will be mostly running. I am really doing this for health reasons mostly - but the races make it fun.
My favorite GWTW memory is my middle sister (she is 4 years my junior) watching it for the first time around age 7. She had tears streaming down her cheeks and proclaimed, \"I hate Yankees.\" with a southern accent that just made the rest of us roll. We did explain that most Yankees aren\'t like that anymore. :P
I think for the time the movie was amazing, but as always the book was better because you understand the characters even more and they aren\'t as shallow as the movie can make them seem.
