I'm 3 weeks from our trip, and I'm starting to get excited. Okay, I started to get excited from the time I made our ressies, but I'm getting really excited now.
So just wondering when others start getting excited?

Nick,

I thiink we are a little worse off from you. We constantly have a countdown calendar stitting on our kitchen table. As long as we eat breakfast together (with me on the road so much, that is not often) the first thing we do is change the calendar.

When we leave in 13 days to start our slow drive down there, the last thing I will do as we walk out the door is set the calendar to how many days it will be before our next trip.

We are hopeless!!!

Hope to meet up with you while we are down there this trip.

It's 48 days for me, and I'm already starting to pack. Nothing major, but there are some things I have put in my carry on and backpack already. ie Halloween costume, my wallet with all the cards I take with me (dvc member, dde, aps, rewards card), bathing suit, DVC visor and a few more small items that I won't need at home, but will need at WDW. Of course I have the countdown clock running on my desktop as well, which I reset the morning I left for my last trip.

But if you're talking about when I feel the actually thrill of "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD" it seems to take hold of me about 2 weeks prior to the trip, and increases exponentially after that. :hyper::Cheshire:

P.S. I am jealous Kathy gets to meet Mr and Mrs Nick. Have a great time!!

Gosh, Kathy, you sound just like me. Though my countdown calendar is in the bedroom, I reset it for our next trip the night before we leave.

So, yep, we're pretty hopeless, too.

Glad we'll be able to spend some time with you and with you Nick (newjerseynick)!!!

Hi,

Well I always have countdowns. Everywhere!!! 29 days and counting for us. We are both looking forward to HH. We talk about it, daily. However, we haven't started to pack. As the trip get closer, I find more reasons to be there NOW!!

Oh yeah! Usually when I can't sleep, though, it's because I'm having a bad dream that the trip has gone wrong some how. Last night I dreamt the resorts had flooded. I leave in 7 days (arrive in 8), and packed a week ago--well, put everthing in the suitcase a week ago. I have had it sitting out to be packed for a couple of months.

I CAN'T WAIT! :yahoo:

Since we are only able to go once a year, my countdowns start at 300+ days. Every few days I look at my Dh and ask 'how many days?' He plays along, but I think I make him nuts:grin:And yes I do get too excited to sleep.

I don't have a physical countdown at the house, but a big mental one in my mind all the time. I have had the unfortunate experience of trips being canceled/rearranged at the last minute (death, hurricanes, jobs), so I try to lay low until about a week out. This trip coming up, it wil make me 11 months without my happy place, and I am really going nuts--all I can think about! :goodvibes:

I have a countdown widget on my dashboard. I also mark off the days on my calendar in my work vehicle.

 people...I would say you need help but you appear to be in good company.

I don't get that excited until I am very close. The only countdown I have are here and that is more for keeping my training inline for my upcoming races.

I do get excited about a week before, but sadly, work is always worse right before I leave ....so it also it stressful the week before. Maybe that is why I don't really count down as much as some.

Yes we all do as silly as it seems we can't sleep almost the entire week leading up to our trips thankfully the kids have no clue we are stopping at Disney they just think we are going camping LOL.

Woke up at 5:30 after not going to bed until after midnight. The alarm isn't supposed to go off until 8am and my flight doesn't leave until after noon. Just got too excited to sleep all of the sudden!

I have to take some sort of sleep aid the night before I leave for WDW. I get psyched way before that, but I can sleep fine up until that last night.

Have a super trip MM! :rocker:

That post was from 2008, and back then DDE was the name for Tables in Wonderland. Used to be called the Disney Dining Experience.

BTW for a list of commonly used abbreviations here's a thread that I believe will help:

Fun thread!

I'm usually super excited the week leading up to dining reservations and then we try to lay low until about a month out. If the kids know about the trip we do a countdown calendar, otherwise it's quiet until we are leaving. For me, at that month out I start to freak out because it's hard to get organized for a 2 and 4 year old, plus leaving our dog here with a house sitter, getting things lined up with work, etc.

I am truly not at ease until we are sitting on the plane taking off. After that I feel so much better and very very excited. :)

Our next little trip is just DH and I....we've never both been away from the kids at the same time so it'll be interesting to see how this goes and if we'll be excited when the time comes.

We just got back from a vist in January and I alredy can't wait to go back. We did not have an exact date planned for the next trip...and...it was driving me nuts! So, I had to go ahead and make soem plans just so I would know when I'd be back...and have something ot look forward to! :yahoo: This October we are going for our first Halloween trip. Yeeeeeayy! I will be an insomniac until then! LOL!

My hubby and I joke and say when we retire, we are going to buy 80 million points and just resort hop till we DIE!!!:blech:

I know exactly how you feel. I had to wait a month and a half to book DL, not knowing if I would be able to get a reservation for 2 studios, and I was counting down the days just to book.

Enjoy your Halloween trip, and try to get some sleep!

Sounds like a terrific plan!

Cool, just try not to die in one of the properties I won at; I don't want my dues to go up for a body removal line item... ;)
