Wow, so what is the benefit again for a member that is used as a referral?

Oh it's very nice.

The first three are worth $1050 total ($200, $350 and $500 respectively.) If you get a fourth you get a $750 gift card. A fifth will get you another $1000 check. It adds up to $2800 if you can manage to find 5 people willing to refer you in one year's time! (Five is the max # of referral bonuses you can get in one year).

Not all members are eligible, though. Many states have laws which limit or outright prohibit its residents from receiving any sort of benefit linked to a timeshare purchase.

Disney uses the referal system to get perspective buyers from sources not exposed to their marketing prgram; In otherwords, you & I. Paying us a "bonus" is just another use of allocated advertising dollars.

Now we have someone proactively pursueing would be buyers. Buyers that DVC alone did all the prep work on. Buyers that wouldn't require paying the $500.00 to the buyer or $200 + to a referer.

If DVC see's a sudden surge in referal expense, especially when Mr Ebay is on his 15th referal at top rate, the whole program may come to an end.
