View Full Version : Disneyland on-site Hotel choice
I\'m hoping to squeeze a late Aug/early Sept trip to DL in...I want to convince MIL to visit her boyfriend who live in LA so that we can all \"be together\" without actually being together. ;)
I\'m torn with where to stay, as I\'ve never stayed on property at DL. Since we\'re planning on buying GC, I\'m thinking to skip that, but then do I do the basic PP stay and work my way up to another visit to the DL hotel? Or should I just go DL hotel and forget PP???? What to do...what to do...
Immediate family consists of two 40-something parents, a 4 yr old and a 1 1/2 yr old at that point. All are good walkers. All are good travelers. I\'m only taking responsibility for the 4 of us. MIL and BF will make their own choice for accomodations.
All comments appreciated. THANKS!

I think you will have a better time at DLH. Roms are bigger, and the pool area is very nice. late Aug/september is an ideal time to visit weather and crowd wise, so the Neverland pool will be a nice break. Are you staying on points? There is not that big a difference point wise between the two hotels. If you are staying on cash, then PP will be compartively cheaper than DLH.
Hadn\'t decided on points or cash. I am sitting on about 200 points extra for the year, which might work out.

We visited GC, ate there, but never stayed. We weren\'t overly impressed. It just felt dark inside. we prefer the lighter wood tones.
We stayed at DLH and loved it, but we were also on the concierge floor on GM\'s dime so maybe my opinion is a bit jaded. PP just didn\'t have any zing for us.

I adore the DL Hotel. It\'s so MICKEY! The lobby especially has so many Mickey and Mickey related things, it\'s so adorable. IMHO the photos behind the check in area are awesome. I was actually disappointed that the DVC at DLR will be at the GC instead of the DLH, but I can see where there is not space to build more at the latter.
I highly recommend you go to Goofy\'s Kitchen with your little ones Nono, even if you don\'t stay at DLH. The character interaction is the best I have had anywhere, and the food is scrumptious with a lot of selections for both adults and kiddies.
I was there in 2002, so I don\'t know if they still do this, but they had a great show there nightly. There is an area in the courtyard that has a waterfall. I think it\'s only once, but it might be twice per evening they play Disney parks/movie music timed to the water with a light show. My balcony happened to face that area, but anyone can see it if you\'re in the courtyard.
The walk to the monorail was reasonable and you are right next to DTD with all the food and shops. I expected to like the hotel, but I truly fell in love with it.
